If you have never done any paper embroidery or stitching with beads, you may want to start with one of these projects: http://www.cardmaking.circleofcrafters.com/loveproject2.html http://www.cardmaking.circleofcrafters.com/anyoccasionproject4.html
To make this card you will need card stock, needle and thread, beads, scissors, tape and a piercing tool or thumb tack(the kind you can grip). To make the card look like the example you will also need a corner punch and peel-off alphabet stickers.
Start with a blank white 5 inch X 6.5 inch greeting card or fold your own from 10 X 13 inch card stock. Cut another piece of card stock to 4.5 X 6 inches to use as the card front and background for your stitching and beadwork. If you have a corner punch, go ahead and punch the corners.
To stitch the pattern, place the printable pattern onto the front of the pink card stock and temporarily tape it down using either blue painter's tape or masking tape, you will want to be able to remove the tape without tearing your card stock so don't press it down too hard.
Next you will be poking holes in your piece of card stock where indicated by the dots on the pattern. You will need a foam mat or other soft surface like the wrong side of a computer mouse pad to place beneath the card stock and pattern when poking the holes. You can use a fine pricking tool to poke the holes but a thumb tack, the kind that you can grip, also works. After all the holes have been poked in your card stock, carefully remove the tape and set the pattern aside.
Now turn the card stock over and get your needle and thread ready. We used 6 strand DMC embroidery thread separated into 3 sets of 2 strands. Tape the thread down on the back of your card and start stitching according to the lines on the pattern. The example card above shows where to place the beads. After you finish all the stitching and beading, secure the end of the thread on the back of the card stock with tape and glue the finished card front to your blank white greeting card.
